The short version
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the retailer may pay us a commission. You pay the same price either way. That is how the site is funded.
What commissions cannot do
Rankings on this site are generated from the scored product database. The ranking code filters and sorts on scores and specifications — it has no access to commission rates, and there is no manual override that lets an editor move a product up a list. If a product ranks first, it is because its weighted score is highest under the published method.
We also do not accept payment for a review, a placement, or a score. We do not send scores to brands before publication, and we do not give a brand the chance to respond to a score before it goes live.
Free samples
Where a brand supplies a unit, we say so on that review page. A supplied unit is assessed identically to a bought one, and supplying one buys a brand no influence over the score, the wording or the ranking.
Prices
Prices shown are the list price at the time we last updated the record, and they move constantly. Always check the current price at the retailer before buying. Consumable prices used in our long-term cost tables are the cheapest genuine source we could find at the time of writing.
